September 20 – Absentee Voting Begins

Don’t let being out of state on Election Day prevent your voice from being heard!  There are two types of absentee voting:

  1. In-person voting – You can vote early in person at your county auditor’s office during their regular business hours. If you are in South Dakota after September 20th, but will not be in South Dakota on election day, early in-person voting is a great option to take advantage of!
  2. Mail-in voting – In order to request a mail-in ballot, you will need to send an application to your county auditor. Your county auditor will then send you a ballot to fill out and mail back.

MORE INFORMATION ABOUT ABSENTEE VOTING

We recommend you do not wait until the last minute to request your absentee ballot from your county auditor. If possible, we recommend you request your ballot by the beginning of October to allow time for processing.
