On Wednesday, September 11th and Wednesday, September 18th, the Sioux Falls League of Women Voters, in partnership with the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI), will host Ballot Issue Forums as an educational offering to the public. Three of the ballot issues will be represented on 11th and a different three will be represented on the 18th. We will not be offering discussion on Amendment E – gender-neutral Constitutional language, but information will be available on the topic at each event.
The Yes on 29 Campaign is invited to present your support of Initiated Measure 29 at the September 11th forum. The forums are in keeping with the League of Women Voters’ mission to promote democracy by educating voters on election issues and the democratic process. The League of Women Voters is a nonpartisan political grassroots organization, formed in 1919 in South Dakota and nationally in 1920—the year women won the right to vote. The moderated forums will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Avera Hall on the USD Sioux Falls campus at 4801 N. Career Ave.
They will be open to a live audience and livestreamed, with the recordings saved and owned by the Sioux Falls League of Women Voters on our YouTube channel. Three ballot questions will be covered on each date, with each issue receiving a half-hour of time. Each side of the issue will have seven minutes to present their topic, followed by Q&A.
By agreeing to participate, you are agreeing to the following expectations:
A table in the lobby outside of the presentation hall will be available to you to further engage attendees. Please let us know by August 16th if you choose to participate, and who will represent your position and their title if appropriate. If you do not respond by this date, we will look for someone else to represent your position. If you have any questions, please let us know. You can contact us at siouxfallslwv@gmail.com or call 605-310-3689. Thank you!
